Training background and methods: Jake was started out on the Race
track. He was then shown the barrels by a couple Little Britches Rodeo children in Texas, moved to Kentucky and was finished by Michelle Burton
and Marne Loosenort, and seasoned by Emily Loeshcke.
Jake runs a tight pocket style. The larger the pattern the more he
cows the barrel, photos will show his nose only a foot in a half off of
the ground. He really gets down and turns. Whoever is running him has
to be GREAT at sitting the barrel. He has been known to toss even
seasoned barrel riders with his quick turns. To ride him you really
have to push off of your horn, and sit! His style has been more of that
of a free runner, however is quicker with pushing. He has knocked a
barrel under 10 times in the last 7 years we have had the privilege to
own him.
Accomplishments:
Top 20 every Rodeo in the Ozark's Region,
Intercollegiate Rodeo, Won several Belt Buckles, top five in the NBHA, won the 3D average at Burnin Barrels at Red Horse Ranch Arena, money winner almost every time out in the 3D, Top 5 in the Houck summer series, TopTten in the UBRA world and for the state of Mn, winning two summer series for the UBRA
How long have you owned your horse? 7 years
What do you feel is unique about your horse? He is as honest as they come, which makes him an easy horse to trust when you enter the arena. I always know that he is going to sit and turn three barrels for me. I love the fact that I can ride him 4 or 5 days a week and never get bored with him. He is just an all around great horse!!
Tell about your horse: Jake is one of a kind! He is all business in
the arena, yet outside he wants to be your best friend. He is great
for riders of all levels. He is the most honest horse I have ever rode.
He always takes care of the rider without comprising his pattern. He
may not be the fastest horse in the arena, but he ALWAYS turns the
barrel great. He has been the best trainer a rider could ask for. He
puts you right where you need to be no matter the pen, ground , or
pattern. He is smart and athletic.
